I do agree though, don't celebrate the person. ![]() And what about the legends in the game like Brother Ali and OneBeLo who basically call Seattle a second home because of the movement thats going on here? What about The physics, Sol, Grynch, Grayskul, Nacho Picasso, Sam Lachow, JAKE ONE? Do you know these people? Because I do and they are all making and have made serious moves on a National level, some of them for years, and are all exceptionally nice, gracious and good people who take the time to be good at their craft, good to there friends and good to their fans. AND there is a TON of acts out here doing it that have great attitudes and personalities and it's misleading and slightly offensive that you would generalize the scene by citing 2 people. You ever do something you thought was cool, brag about it and realize you were a dick? Yep, we all have. Why all the personal jabs?Īnd as a part of the Seattle scene, I can tell you that pointing out 2 cats with ego's that MAYBE (keyword) did a shitty thing once, thats super shallow homie. Either like it and support it or dont like it move on. BUT REALLY, honestly, so-the-f***-what? They make music that is becoming extremely popular. And it's also been said around the town that Sabzi has a huge ego. Although he had a kid and it seemed to bring him down to earth a bit. Neema though, he's been "off", shall we say, for a while now and thats no secret. I am still friends with Ryan and I have never, ever heard this. ![]() I can actually vouch that this statement is pretty much true EXCEPT for the Ryan Lewis story. Obviously not everyone is going to like his music, but you can't shoot him down for the faults of other Seattle rappers or because you think the state of Seattle hip-hop is fucked. He is truly passionate about what he does. I've seen Macklemore live about 3 or 4 times now and I think his live shows are fantastic. The shit about Ryan Lewis (which is pretty fucked up if it's true), Sabzi, and Neema, which I actually thought was really interesting, doesn't have a lot to do with Macklemore except that I guess he works with Ryan Lewis a lot now. It seems like you have a really unique perspective on the guy since you've known him for a long time, I'm just confused on what your point is exactly? What I got from your post was that he made a song about a beloved Seattle icon who passed away and the song blew up, there are people who changed their tunes about him once he got famous, and you don't like one of his songs. His style is contrived? What does that mean? I'm not sure what you're criticizing Macklemore of here.
